Buddhism offers the beautiful practice of metta, or lovingkindness, in which we send well wishes to a beloved, ourselves, a neutral person, a difficult person, and All Beings. The more we can practice shining out onto ourselves and others, the more readily we can access our inherent compassion, joy, self-love, ease, and sense of general balance.

And a jar (or vase or toolbox or wonky-but-groovy mug you made in ceramics class) FULL of self-tailored good wishes is a perfect way to integrate lovingkindness into our everyday lives.

May you feel blessed.

Take yourself on a treasure hunt in your attic, cupboard, or an antique mall.

Find a cool container to fill with blessings.

Cut up some sturdy pieces of paper large enough to hold one wish each. Upcycled calendars, cards, folders, and art papers are perfect.

Write your good wishes! Invite your family and friends.

Fill your sweet love vessel with metta. Leave some blank so you can add more as you wish.

Put your lovingkindness jar in your love and beauty zone.

Pick a card every day. Invite others.

May you accept what is.
