New Year's Meditation and Writing Prompts

(Click here if you want to go straight to the New Year’s meditation.)

Happy new year! I hope yours is off to a sweet and slow start.

We spent our New Year’s Eve basking in the sauna, playing games with folks in our community, and tucking ourselves into bed long before midnight. It was a perfect way to ease into the new year.

And then this morning I took my coffee up to the still-warm sauna and recorded this guided meditation for you.

Well, I also did it for me. I’ve had a tradition the past several years of hosting a New Year’s meditation and journaling session at Breitenbush Hot Springs, and last night I realized how much I longed to meet this new year in the same way, even though I don’t have a retreat center full of people to join me. But I do have my recording device and I have you! So thank you for being there with me, even if you didn’t know it.

This meditation takes you on journey through wild landscapes and invites you to honor and release the past year’s gifts and burdens, sink into the present, and call in what you desire for an expansive new year. It is followed by some journaling prompts that want to take you even more deeply into your visions for the terrain ahead.

If you want to join me in this journey, gift yourself a couple hours to really indulge in whole shebang. Close the door. Turn off the phone. Dim the lights. Build a cozy nest. Light a candle. Make a fire if you’re so lucky. And keep paper and pen handy so you can write after the meditation without interruption.

If you’ve got beloveds who dig this kind of thing, this meditation could be a really sweet way to share time and space with them.

And, of course, you can use this resource at ANY TIME. It is always a good time to pause long enough to honor what came before and set intentions for what lies ahead.

What lies ahead?

Whatever it may be, may it be full of laughter, warm in light, flooded with self-acceptance, rich in connection, crisp with truth, and infused with surprises of the best kind.

Much love and many blessings for a beautiful new year, xoxo Becca
